This video never had a set idea. I had a song in mind that I wanted to do a project too and thought of a way I could line up the motion of the picture with the beat of the song. Ultimately it ended up being a documentation of how artworks come into a final project. This video documents every step that is taken to come up with a final project.
I wanted to play with the idea of anonymity. These two clips are sounds that everyone does everyday, but do you recognize them without the actual action in front of your eyes. I wish i had more time to interview different people, but it is an awkward situation recording sounds that people do to get ready in the morning. Ultimately do we realize what our morning routine's sound like without the action of us actually doing them.
-Kara French I decided to go the political route due to the fact that the elections are just right around the corner and I feel like this deals with our mutable world because that I feel like we’re getting to a point as a country where we are having to settle when it comes to our government officials. This year would be the first year I’m able to vote and I don’t even have the desire to vote because I don’t agree with either political figure. I feel like our options for president are just getting more and more unqualified every time we have an election. Even though I may not want to vote, it is blatantly obvious that the elections are important and should never be taken lightly.
I was influenced by the movie Face Off when it comes to the element of the poster. I wanted to compare the two candidates by placing them equally side by side, but by not making it obvious. You can always look at a picture of a person longer than you can actually look at them in person. I believe that truly staring at someone you can learn a lot by them, their mannerisms, how they talk, and personal gestures. I wanted to keep the text minimal because I wanted the focus to be on the faces and the images going on in the picture. I feel as though images speak louder than words sometimes. The average price of gas was $1.16 in 1990, today's prices range anywhere from $3-$4. Which is around the same price of buying beer. Something is terribly wrong with the economy.
