My audio project was made by combining urban sounds and nature sounds together to create a contradicting sound space. This was less about the souds themselves and more about what pictures the sound conjured in your mind. Ideally you all pictured different places, and all eperienced
When I first started this project I was strung up between three topics:Sex in America,Violence in film, and self image , originally I had planned on taking out self image because is was so cliched and it felt like a tired tune. When I asked people what I should choose I had one person say that self image is a topic that everyone knows, but if I could put my own spin on it then it could be amazing. From there I got brainstorming and I decided I wanted to create a picture of someone where half of their face was untouched and the other half had the works done to it in photoshop, and from there I came up with the idea that the works side doesn't really reflect that person, which is where I ended up coming up with the slogan “put the self back in self image”. I was really struggling on a concept for this piece and inspiration came to me from a really bazaar source. I was on the internet looking at random videos, and I came across an interview with Marilyn Manson in which he said the following. "Theres war, theres illness, theres death. Cut to commercial. Buy the colgate. If you have bad breath they wont like you, and if you have pimples the girl is not gonna fuck you. Its all about fear nowadays." An this got me thinking about what our minds would have looked like before media had such a big hold on it.....so I created this as a representation.
For this work I decided to represent how out world is shifting from the physical, to the technological. Out phones are a part of us now as much as our eyes are.
To make this image I took an image of a woman with beautiful blue eyes ( taken from Binews), and I shifted around the woman's face until I had it how I liked. From there I took an image of a circuit board (from Circuitboards1.com) an put in a layer that existed behind the woman. I then zoomed in and erased her eyes revealing the image beneath. After that I did some touch up on the circuit board to make it look actually oart of the eye and then it was done. Viola! |
