I chose to do this piece because I've actually seen these water fountains a lot. They are in the Seattle airport and I always pass through this airport going to and from the states. I've always wondered what this water fountain was and why it made so much noise. I actually avoided using this water fountain because it is so loud. When you hit the button for water to come out, there is a speaker located underneath that starts playing very loud water noises. You'll be sitting there waiting to board and all just here people go and get water. I just think it's funny now and I like that I actually know what it is now and that Jim Green was the artist, but I'll still avoid using it.

Hahaha I actually like this a lot, the water sounds are very soothing to listen to! I don't know how I would feel waiting for a plane and listening to it every 5 minutes though so I definitely know where you're coming from :P I love this idea though, it's very simple and cute. I can see this possibly launching many other sound installations for other things such as...oh, I don't know, possibly a haunted house where the opening of a door activates an eery, creeking sound and, and maybe motion-activated paintings that stimulate a...a blood-curdling scream or something of that nature. But I digress, back to your blog! Great find, I love it :D

This is actually pretty hilarious in concept. Poor people are usually just trying to quench their thirst and then all of the sudden... WATER SOUNDS. It might not be that out there, but the sound is probably enough to scare a lot of people, or keep them away – like you. That’s an interesting effect and I wonder how Jim Green was thinking that people would react to his audio installation. Still, this is a great piece of audio art.

Hahaha! I really get a kick out of this type of audio art. It kind of reminds me of the escalator one we were shown in class. I'd like to see this be taken to a whole new level as well! Maybe installing some screaming or laughing noises when the toilets flush in the bathroom or something like that. Because, it would be clever to install audio for objects that people use like every day! The bathroom one may be a little mean though...hahaha. Thanks for posting this one!
