In World War II, the British perfected the use of radar and used it to take down German planes at night, but instead of letting the world know their secret and to prevent the suspicions of the Germans, carrot propaganda was created. The Ministry of food set forth the rumor that eating carrots would help their people see better during the blackouts not only to keep the Germans off their trail, but to make use of the surplus of carrots. As a result, carrots replaced many fruits and ingredients in recipes during the war and a myth that withstood the test of time.
