Alright so when looking for audio installations that weren't in a studio or weren't already taken by my classmates I ran across Sound Walk. Indoor and OUTDOOR installations (so technically outside of the gallery) done annual at Long Beach produced by the artist group FLOOD. In downtown, 4th Street and Linden Avenue, First Street and Elm Avenue, they integrate the combination of lots of arts to "inspire and surprise" the viewers. They feature performances, environments, installations, and sculptures. This year they are focusing on the concept of connectivity. I think that this is actually pretty cool, to get out of the gallery and into the streets will draw a whole lot more attention from the passerbys. If this was around more places then I think it would draw more people into art and the sound itself will bring them in.
I do not have an example of their previous walks but here is their site which I recommend checking out.

Below are their past posters on the events.
