Agnest Nagygyorgy is a Hungarian artist living in Belgium. She has a work called "Act V" in which two women sit across from each other and voice overs tell the story of their families history with sewing. As time goes on, they sew themselves to the chairs and to each other until they are tied up by their own work.
I chose this piece from Agnes because of its direct relation to the history of sewing, the [translated] text of the voiceovers talk about sewing's evolution from a needed skill to something used to make prettier to something binding in a possibly dangerous way.
